My dead friend Zoe is a dark drama of comedy that follows a journey of merit (Sonequa Martin-Green), an American army of the Afghan veteran who clashes with her family thanks to Zoe’s presence (Natalie Morales), her dead best friend from the army. Despite the perseverance of her advisor to VA (Morgan Freeman), the heavy love of her mother (Gloria Reuben) and the leisure of the unexpected love interest, the merits of a pleasant and dysfunctional friendship with Zoe holds a duo isolated from the world. This is as long as the merit of the alienated grandfather (Ed Harris) – connected in the family house of the ancestral lake – does not start to lose his way and needs the only thing he refuses … help. At its core, this is a friendly film about complicated friendship, divided family and complex ways we are processing sadness.
