Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that lands them lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “Skeleton Crew” and more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neel’s younger siblings is the same one Chewbacca’s family watches in the infamous The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978). Featured in the crazy cartoon cast from AniMat: Silly Old Deadly Bear (2022). I watched the first two episodes, and while there’s a clear effort to create a “Goonies in Space” show here, what’s wrong with that? This is a very different take on a story that exists in the Star Wars universe. I liked the look and feel of a suburban town in this world, because I’ve never actually seen one. The town I’m from reminded me more of E.T.’s neighborhood than anything I’ve seen on any recent show. The 4 main characters are typical but likable, each with their own clearly defined roles in the group and are well played by the actors. The pirate vibe is not necessarily something I’ve seen before and adds a slightly creepy element and an air of danger. If this had been an 80s movie, it would have fit perfectly. I’m enjoying it so far because of the new storytelling elements in the Star Wars universe, the hint of nostalgia for the movies of my childhood, and the fact that I can share this Star Wars experience with my kids. Very good!. Update your watchlist with the latest lineup of streaming movies and TV shows coming to Disney+, featuring old favorites and top newcomers.
